Frequently asked questions
Where can I download Resist?
Resist is available now for Android on Google Play. The iPhone version is coming soon.
How does Resist work?
When an urge hits, tap the button to start a 10-minute timer. While it runs you get games, quick exercises, quotes, and tips to help you ride it out. It's based on urge surfing: cravings build, peak, and fade if you don't act on them. Each urge you get through adds to your score, streak, and level.
I can't sign in or I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, use the forgot-password option and we'll email you a reset link. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
If you originally signed up with Google, sign in with Google again rather than with a password. Still stuck? Email us from the address on your account.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are billed and managed by the store you bought through, so cancel there. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
Google Play (Android)
- Open the Google Play Store app.
- Tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
- Select Resist and tap Cancel subscription.
Or go straight to your Google Play subscriptions.
App Store (iPhone)
- Open the Settings app and tap your name.
- Tap Subscriptions, then Resist.
- Tap Cancel Subscription.
Or open your App Store subscriptions.
After you cancel, you keep premium until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Payments go through Google or Apple, so refunds are handled by them, not by us:
- Google Play: request a refund on Google Play.
- App Store: reportaproblem.apple.com.
If something went wrong with your purchase, email us too and we'll help sort it out.
I paid but the app doesn't show premium
- Make sure you're signed in to the same Resist account you used when you subscribed.
- Make sure your phone is signed in to the same Google Play or Apple account that paid.
- Fully close the app and reopen it. If the subscription screen offers a restore option, tap it.
If it still doesn't show, email us with your account email and your order number (it starts with GPA. on Google Play), and we'll fix it.
How does the free month from the website work?
If you entered your email on resistfor10.com during our launch offer, download Resist and create an account (or sign in) with that same email. Your free access turns on automatically the next time the app loads, and lasts from that moment. Signing in with Google works too, as long as it's the same email address.
If you joined our pre-launch waitlist, the same steps apply and you get a full year.
Free access doesn't renew into a paid plan, and you won't be charged when it ends. If it hasn't shown up within a few minutes, email us.
How do I add friends?
Each account has a friend code. Share yours, or enter a friend's code in the Friends section of the app, to send a request. Once they accept, you'll see each other's level and streak and can send encouragement.
How do I delete my account and data?
You can delete your account inside the app from Settings. The delete account page walks through it step by step and explains what's removed. If you can't get into the app, email us from your account's address and we'll delete it for you.
Deleting your account doesn't cancel a store subscription. Cancel that first (see above).
What data do you collect?
The basics needed to run your account, sync your score, and connect friends. We don't sell your data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
Reporting a bug
Use the feature request form (choose "Bug") or email us. It helps a lot to include your phone model, Android or iOS version, and what you were doing when it happened. A screenshot is even better.
Resist isn't medical treatment
Resist is a self-help tool. It doesn't replace a doctor, therapist, or treatment program (see our disclaimer). If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, get help now:
US: call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), or call SAMHSA's free, confidential helpline at 1-800-662-4357 for substance use and addiction support. Outside the US: find a local line at findahelpline.com. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
